Roughly 44 workers and many delicious pies were auctioned off at the annual Verdigre FFA Work & Pie Auction Thursday, November 7, 2013, earning the club its second-highest tally for the event.
This comes hot on the heels of a record-breaking auction fundraiser last year that gave the kids roughly $17,000 for their coffers. This year’s total came to around $14,500 – a very respectable figure.
As always, Gary and Ryan Vesely of Vesely Auction Service donated their time and expertise to facilitate the smooth sales of workers and pies.
Heavily fought-over pies included rhubarb and strawberry rhubarb, sour cream and raisin, mile-high peanut butter/chocolate, pecan, apple, pumpkin and countless other confections.
The Verdigre FFA Annual Work & Pie Auction is the club’s only fundraiser, the proceeds of which go towards travel and room expenses, banquet supplies, etc.
Pies were supplied by the FFA members, who also kept track of bids and accepted payments.
